MG's Model VA Sports Touring was a scaled-down version of the SA released in 1935 to replace the famous KN Magnette. It performed respectably for a heavy four-cylinder model and sold well. Speeds up to 80 m.p.h. were reached in a VA driven with the windscreen down. Smooth roadhandling was due to a Luvax hydraulic shock absorbing system which the driver adjusted via fingertip control on the dash. The VA accelerated from zero-to-sixty in 22.6 sec. This MG featured high quality body finish, leather upholstery, passenger comfort aided by softly sprung seat cushions. The dashboard had cream colored instrument faces set into brass surrounds. A black nickel plate with raised lines, set into a walnut panel, housed dials and gauges.
